Announcing Forums for 2026
As we grow to become the Regional Hamfest for the North Texas area, we are expanding to do many of the things that larger hamfests provide, such as instructional and educational Forums. For 2026, we have a selection of interesting subjects that we hope you haven’t seen in other places:
Sat 10AM – Radio and the Titanic
As we approach the anniversary of the famous ship’s sinking, most people know the story of the Titanic disaster. But how did her radio work, and who were all the players? We’ll visit Titanic’s radio room, meet the operators, see how shipboard radio worked back in the day, and find out how Titanic radio still affects us today.
Sat 11AM – ARRL News with Steve Smith, ARRL North Texas SM
Come find out what’s happening with the ARRL’s efforts to eliminate HOA restrictions, as well as the latest news from Newington.
Sat 12PM – The American Weather Warning System in 2026
Tom Bradshaw, Meteorologist-In-Charge of the Fort Worth Dallas (FWD) office of the National Weather Service, will bring his views and perspective of where are we now and what’s next? It’s an exploration of the myriad ways that weather data are now being sourced, and the rapidly expanding industry for transforming this content into warnings for the public. This is not your average Storm Spotting presentation.
Sat 1PM – High-Altitude Balloons and Radio
Come learn all about the North Texas High-Altitude Balloon program. See the results of some of our past launches and what it takes to launch, track, and recover a balloon from a flight to 100,000+ feet. At the end of the session, there will be a launch from the parking lot (weather permitting).
